Brook Hills is an exclusive, gated community in Fallbrook in North County San Diego. Set among the rolling hills just minutes from the quaint village of Fallbrook, Brook Hills offers luxury living on two-acre lots within a gated community surrounded by other upscale neighborhoods.

Residents here enjoy well-maintained, private roads, lighted tennis courts and a beautiful clubhouse with four acres of lush gardens. Popular as a wedding venue and an elegant setting for special occasions, the clubhouse can be rented by residents for meetings and other events.

Known as one of the top art towns in the country, Fallbrook is home to a thriving art culture that includes galleries, public art installations and community events throughout the year. Brook Hills is just minutes from all of this, as well as hiking trails, a private airport, nature preserves, shopping, dining, schools and more.

The development of Brook Hills was started by Arthur Appleton, a Chicago-based businessman, real estate developer and racehorse breeder. Development began in the late-1990s, and most of the estate homes in Brook Hills were constructed between the late-1990s and mid-2000s. Most homes here were built by Centex Homes.

The gated community of Brook Hills offers just over 75 upscale estate homes located on large lots that are two acres or just over two acres in size. The rolling hills throughout the community offer scenic diversity and building sites with great views of Palomar Mountain, Bonsall and the surrounding area.

The luxury, one- and two-story homes found in Brook Hills have many of the upscale amenities you would expect in a neighborhood of this caliber, including guest houses, swimming pools, outdoor kitchens, family orchards and high-end finishes. This is also one of the Fallbrook neighborhoods you may want to add to your search if you are looking for a home with six or seven bedrooms, a four- or five-car garage, or a media room.

There is an active homeowners association with dues that go towards maintaining the common areas, gates and amenities found throughout the community. These amenities include lighted tennis courts and a clubhouse with gardens that can be rented for special occasions and events.

The exclusive Brook Hills neighborhood is fewer than 10 minutes from the quaint village that makes up Fallbrook’s downtown area. This means that residents and visitors are just a short drive from restaurants, grocery stores, banks, gas stations, boutiques, pharmacies, healthcare providers, salons and just about anything else they might need. Fallbrook is also home to a weekly farmers market, public art installations, wine and craft beer tasting rooms, and art galleries. In fact, Fallbrook is known as one of the top art towns in the country, so those who enjoy a thriving art scene are sure to feel right at home.

You can even take art classes at the Fallbrook School of Art or, for a different type of artistic expression, make a reservation at Ella Rose Farm, which is just south of Brook Hills and offers workshops that include a farm tour, education about growing roses and a vase arrangement class.

Just a short drive south of the neighborhood and accessed from Highway 76, Bonsall offers additional shopping and dining options, as well as the closest movie theater showing the latest releases.

The close proximity to Highway 76 also allows residents to easily access expanded shopping, dining and entertainment options in Temecula, Oceanside, Escondido, San Marcos, Vista and beyond.

For recreation close to home, residents can meander through the gardens at the community clubhouse or meet up with neighbors on one of the three lighted tennis courts. Just a few minutes from home, golfers can schedule tee times at the 18-hole course at Golf Club of California. Other nearby golf courses and country clubs include Pala Mesa Resort, Arrowood Golf Course, Vista Valley Country Club, Welk Resort and Castle Creek Country Club.

Pilots with private planes will enjoy the close proximity of Fallbrook Airpark, while equestrians can take advantage of many boarding and training stables in Fallbrook and throughout North County.

Those who prefer to meet their neighbors and get involved in the community through youth and adult sports leagues will likely be spending lots of time at one or more of Fallbrook’s community parks, which include Ingold Community Sports Park, Ball Park, Live Oak Park and Alturas Street Park. There is also the Fallbrook Community Center and Park, which hosts community events, such as swap meets and craft fairs, and offers programming for children, teens, adults and seniors.

Along with beaches, golf courses and equestrian centers, the miles of hiking, biking and riding trails are among the most popular options for outdoor recreation in North County San Diego. There are more than 160 paths and trails on which to walk, jog, trail run, hike, mountain bike and ride, including trails in some of the 11 nearby nature preserves maintained by the Fallbrook Land Conservancy. Brook Hills public school students are served by the Fallbrook Unified Elementary School District and the Fallbrook Union High School District. Most public school students in this area attend La Paloma Elementary School, James E. Potter Junior High School and Fallbrook High School. Other options include Fallbrook Homeschool Academy and Ivy Continuation School.

Private schools in the Fallbrook area include Peppertree Montessori, A Step in Time Preschool, Fallbrook Montessori, Montessori Adolescent Academy, Rock Rose School for Creative Learning, Spirit Mountain School, St. Stephen Lutheran School, New Covenant Christian Academy, Alpha & Omega Academy and St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School.

For those who want to continue their education close to home or go back to school as an adult, nearby options include Palomar College’s Fallbrook campus, San Joaquin Valley College, MiraCosta College, Miramar College, Saddleback College, John Paul the Great Catholic University, Soka University of America, National University and California State University San Marcos.

Brook Hills is located west of La Canada Road, south and east of Linda Vista Drive, and north of Via Monserate. The community can be accessed from gated entrances on La Canada Road, Via Monserate and Linda Vista Drive.
