Brooke Hollow Estates is a small neighborhood of custom homes in the town of Fallbrook in North County San Diego. Homes here are on large lots that range in size from 2.5 acres to four acres, and residents enjoy the tranquility of semi-rural living just minutes from the shops, restaurants, and thriving art scene in downtown Fallbrook.
Even closer to home, residents here enjoy access to hiking trails in nearby nature preserves, local wine tasting rooms, a popular farm stand selling local produce, one of Fallbrook’s most beautiful community parks, and a botanical garden with a bird sanctuary and butterfly garden.
Brooke Hollow Estates History
Brooke Hollow Estates is one of two Fallbrook neighborhoods developed by former pro golfer and local developer and real estate broker, Tim Rosa.
Brooke Hollow Estates Housing
The Brooke Hollow Estates community includes 15 custom homes on lots that range in size from 2.5 acres to four acres. These upscale homes tend to have higher-end finishes and amenities, such as swimming pools, sports courts, family orchards, putting greens, guest quarters and well-designed outdoor living areas.
As with any popular neighborhood of this size, finding homes for sale in Brooke Hollow Estates is a rare opportunity, so you will need to watch the market if you are hoping to move into this small community.
Brooke Hollow Estates Shopping, Dining & Entertainment
Most of the shopping, dining and entertainment options in Fallbrook are found in the downtown village area and along South Mission Road. This is where you will find the three main shopping centers – Fallbrook Towne Centre, Colony Plaza Shopping Center and Mercantile Shopping Center – and just about anything you would need to complete your everyday errands. This includes grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, salons, healthcare providers, mail stops, dry cleaners, and locally owned shops.
Most Fallbrook restaurants are also located here, including fast food chains, Fallbrook Coffee Company, Firehouse Que & Brew, Main Street Café, Trupiano’s Italian Bistro, and Dominick’s Sandwiches.
However, while this is where you will find most of your everyday essentials and plenty of restaurants just a short drive from Brooke Hollow Estates, do not overlook the many locally owned options even closer to home. Just some of the options you should check out near the neighborhood are the Madd Potter on Ranger Road, El Parque restaurant on Reche Road, Missy’s Italian Restaurant on Rabbit Hill, and the alfresco fine dining at The Veranda (be sure to make a reservation).
There is also Eli’s Farm Stand on East Mission Road, which might become your favorite spot to stock up on local produce, and Myrtle Creek Botanical Gardens, which is home to Café Bloom, a nursery and gift shop, the historic Fallbrook Barn, a wild bird sanctuary and a butterfly garden. Since this is probably one of the first places you will want to check out, you might want to make a note that you just head south from Brooke Hollow Estates on Via Vista, and then turn left (east) on Reche Road. If you happen to visit on a Saturday or Sunday, you may want to stop by the Myrtle Creek Vineyards tasting room on Via Vista on your way home.
Of course, Fallbrook’s local offerings go well beyond boutiques, wineries and restaurants; this small, semi-rural town is also well known as an art destination, earning it a spot on John Villani’s 100 Best Art Towns in America. At the heart of the local art scene is the Fallbrook Art Center, which hosts exhibits and events and is home to Café de Artistes, where you can enjoy a sweet or savory treat in an eclectic atmosphere with art and a historic soda fountain.
You can experience more of the Fallbrook art scene through the annual Fallbrook Film Festival hosted by the Fallbrook Film Factory, live performances at Mission Theater, classes at Fallbrook School of the Arts, public art installations in the downtown area, and exhibits at Brandon Gallery.
Fallbrook is also home to regular swap meets and craft fairs, a weekly famers market, art walks, car shows, flower shows, a wide array of seasonal community events, and the ever-popular Fallbrook Avocado Festival.
Brooke Hollow Estates Parks & Recreation
One of the reasons so many people choose Fallbrook neighborhoods as their home base is that they are able to enjoy a semi-rural lifestyle surrounded by things to do. There is the Fallbrook Airpark for private pilots, Oceanside’s beaches only about 30 minutes away, boarding and training stables found throughout North County, eleven nature preserves in and around Fallbrook, miles of hiking and riding trails in every direction, and plenty of golf courses and country clubs nearby.
While golfers will likely find themselves checking out the courses scattered throughout the county, the four that are closest to home for Brooke Hollow Estates residents are Pala Mesa Resort, Golf Club of America, Arrowood Golf Course, and Welk Resort. Pala Mesa Resort, Welk Resort and several nearby country clubs also offer tennis courts and tennis programs. Plus, there is the private Fallbrook Tennis Club on South Mission Road where members enjoy 10 tennis courts, a pro shop, tennis leagues, tennis tournaments and tennis lessons.
There are also public tennis courts located at Fallbrook Community Center & Park on Heald Lane. Other amenities here include sand volleyball courts, a playground, picnic areas, a basketball court, and an auditorium. This is a great place to meet other Fallbrook residents and for your kids to make new friends, since the community center offers a wide array of classes, activities and events for children, teens, adults and seniors.
Even closer to home you will find Live Oak Park, which is a beautiful, 27-acre community space set in an oak grove. To reach the park from Brooke Hollow Estates, you simply head south on Via Vista and turn right (west) on Reche Road. Once there, you will find picnic areas, walking paths, two playgrounds, a volleyball court, a basketball court, soccer fields, softball fields, and an off-leash dog park.
Aside from the walking trails at Live Oak Park, Brooke Hollow Estates residents can get in some easy, low-impact outdoor activity by taking a leisurely stroll through the wild bird sanctuary or butterfly garden at Myrtle Creek Botanical Gardens, meandering through the garden at Palomares House & Park, or exploring one of the other nature preserves managed by the Fallbrook Land Conservancy
(which also offer trails on which you can work up more of a sweat).
The three preserves closest to Brooke Hollow Estates are Palomares House & Park, Dinwiddie Preserve and Los Jilgueros Preserve. Monserate Mountain Preserve and Hellers Bend are also nearby, and all of the preserves are easy to reach within a short drive from the neighborhood. Be sure to check the land conservancy’s website before visiting one of the preserves. While most of them have trails that are open to the public, some must close to public access periodically to protect or repair vulnerable habitats.
Brooke Hollow Estates Schools
The Brooke Hollow Estates community is served by the Fallbrook Union Elementary School District and the Fallbrook Union High School District. Most public-school students in this area attend Live Oak Elementary School and James E. Potter Junior High School — both of which are located just a short drive west of the neighborhood — and then go on to attend Fallbrook High School. Other options include the Fallbrook Homeschool Academy and Ivy Continuation High School.
