This boutique micro winery sits on the rim of Escondido’s Highland Valley, with a commanding view of the San Pasqual Valley, Vulcan Mountain to the east, the Safari Park to the north. Its vineyard/winery produces award-winning full-bodied Bordeaux red wines. Starting off as accomplished home winemakers, co-owners/co-winemakers Ray and Jeannine acquired the property in 2007, planted vines and built a craftsman-style winery that doubles as their tasting room.
Visit and taste Cab, Merlot, Syrah, Barbera, Zin, their Bordeaux blend and more. Tastings, held in the working winery and on the crush pad, are available Saturday and Sunday (with posted exceptions), noon to six (five pm in winter), and other days by appointment. Call or write them to set up a visit.
After you park in the shade of a huge olive tree, you’ll likely be greeted by Nate the winery lab. Ray and Jeannine enjoy explaining the story behind each wine, and are happy to suggest other local wineries to complement and enhance your day.
Take a seat on the patio, get gobsmacked at the views, and enjoy the day. The winery encourages you to bring snacks to enjoy on picnic tables with friends and family.
