Costa Del Sol West is a near-coastal community in the Del Mar Mesa area of North County San Diego. This upscale neighborhood is located at the end of a cul-de-sac, has a trail head leading to miles of hiking trails, and is adjacent to the SR 56 Bike Trail and Highway 56. This provides residents with easy access to hiking, biking, schools, beaches, shopping, dining and more, including employment centers and all that North County has to offer.
Costa Del Sol West Housing
I found one recently sold (February 2017) home which is a four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom, 2,191-square-foot home on a 3,207-square-foot lot with a listing price of $844,599. It looks like this house went out at $837,500.
Another home that recently sold in Costa Del Sol West is a three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom, 1,615-square-foot home that sold in September 2016 for $800,000.
Homes here are on relatively small lots and are closer together than what you might find in some of North County’s more expensive neighborhoods. This is one reason that homes here are a bit more affordable, although $800,000 for a three-bedroom house remains in the realm of luxury homes. Some homes have views of Santa Monica Ridge and Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve.
As is common in many North County neighborhoods, Costa Del Sol West residents can expect to pay homeowners association dues and Mello-Roos.
Costa Del Sol West Shopping & Dining
Located adjacent to Highway 56 about halfway between Interstate 5 and Interstate 15, Costa Del Sol West is an ideally located home base for folks looking for easy access to shopping and dining throughout North County and in downtown San Diego. There are, however, nearby options that do not even require accessing either interstate. For example, The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch is just on the other side of Highway 56, Del Mar Highlands Town Center is on El Camino Real and Torrey Highlands Village is off of the 56 on Camino Del Sur. There is also the weekly Carmel Valley Certified Farmers’ Market at Canyon Crest Academy (5951 Village Center Loop), which takes place every Thursday from 2:30 to 7:00pm.
Some of the many offerings at the upscale Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch include Crudo, Dolce Pano E Vino, Pure Barre, Crunch Fitness, Starbucks, Panera Bread, Trader Joe’s, Rite Aid, Luna Grill and Breakfast Republic.
At Del Mar Highlands Town Center, you will find Petco, Ralph’s, Jimbo’s…Naturally!, Champagne French Bakery Café, Bath & Body Works, Papyrus and much more, including the not-to-be-missed Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas.
The smaller Torrey Highlands Village plaza has Vons, Peet’s Coffee, PizzaRev, BT’s Southern BBQ, Vittorio’s, a mailing center, salons, and other shops and services.
Costa Del Sol West Parks & Recreation

It is located just north of Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve, and many of the homes have views of this recreational area. There are also plenty of nearby equestrian centers for horse lovers looking for boarding or training stables, and the San Diego Polo Club, Del Mar Racetrack and Del Mar Horse Park are all just minutes away.
