Costa Del Sol is a community of 162 homes within the larger Del Mar Mesa area in North County San Diego. This neighborhood of three- and four-bedroom homes built in the early-2000s is close to shopping, dining, beaches, hiking trails and high-ranked schools. It is adjacent to Highway 56 between Interstate 5 and Interstate 15, which allows for easy access to nearby employment centers, as well as access to expanded options for dining, shopping and recreation.

There are 162 detached, single-family homes in Costa Del Sol. Most are on smaller lots, with a few exceptions, and each two-story home has a two-car garage and ranges in size from about 1,615 square feet to 2,191 square feet. There are four floor plans in the neighborhood:
- Three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, 1,615 square feet
- Three bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, 2,191 square feet
- Four bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, 2,007 square feet
- Four bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, 2,127+ square feet (depending on options)
Homeowners here pay homeowners association dues and Mello-Roos, which is common throughout North County San Diego.
I found no homes for sale in Costa Del Sol at the time of this writing. Homes that sold in 2016 went out between about $721,000 and $935,000.
Costa Del Sol Shopping & Dining
Costa Del Sol is located just off of Highway 56 between Interstate 5 and Interstate 15, which allows residents to enjoy expanded shopping and dining options in Rancho Peñasquitos, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, Solana Beach, Encinitas, La Jolla and downtown San Diego. Of course, you will likely find a few favorite eateries and your everyday essentials much closer to home.
Nearby options include The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch, Del Mar Highlands Town Center and the Torrey Highlands Village shopping center.
The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch is a newer, upscale outdoor mall offering a variety of shops, restaurants and services. Just a few examples include Trader Joe’s, Rite Aid, Crudo, Panera Bread, Dolce Pano E Vino, Starbucks, Crunch Fitness, Pure Barre and Baked Bear.
Del Mar Highlands Town Center, which is just a bit farther away is home to Ralphs, Jimbo’s…Naturally!, Bath & Body Works, Petco, Champagne French Bakery Café, Papyrus, Casa Sol y Mar and lots of other offerings. This is also where you will find your nearest luxury movie theater (Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas), which might come in handy for date night.
The Torrey Highlands Village shopping center, which is off of Highway 56 to the east, offers PizzaRev, Vons, Vittorio’s, Peet’s Coffee, Luna Grill, salons, a mailing center and more.
Costa Del Sol Parks & Recreation
Costa Del Sol is a near-coastal community that is just a short drive from the beaches of Del Mar, La Jolla, Solana Beach and Encinitas. It is also just minutes from Torrey Pines State Natural Preserve, which has trails leading to the ocean, as well as Deer Canyon, Del Mar Mesa Preserve, Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve and Black Mountain State Park, all of which offer miles of hiking trails.
For those who prefer golf courses and country clubs, there are plenty of options minutes away, including Del Mar Country Club, The Farms Golf Club, The Santaluz Club, Fairbanks Ranch Country Club, Morgan Run Club & Resort, The Grand Golf Club and Rancho Valencia Tennis Resort & Spa.
Being part of North County, residents here are also close to many equestrian centers and places of interest for horse lovers, such as the Del Mar Racetrack, Del Mar Horse Park and San Diego Polo Club.
Costa Del Sol Schools
Costa Del Sol students are served by the Del Mar Union School District and the San Dieguito Union High School District. Most public school students here attend Sycamore Ridge Elementary School, Carmel Valley Middle School and Torrey Pines High School. Canyon Crest Academy, which offers a lottery to interested public school students, is located just down the street.
Nearby private schools include Cathedral Catholic High School, Diegueno Country School, Del Mar Pines School, San Diego Jewish Academy, Cal Coast Academy, The Cambridge School, Halstrom Academy, and Christ the Cornerstone Lutheran Academy and Preschool.
Costa Del Sol Boundaries
Costa Del Sol is located north of Costa Del Sol West, east of Pacific Highlands Ranch, west of Torrey Highlands and south of Carmel Valley Road. Most of the neighborhood is located between Carmel Valley Road to the north and Highway 56 to the south, but there is a small pocket south of Highway 56 as well.
Homes here can be accessed from Rancho Santa Fe Farms Road and are located on Chase Way, Lavender Way, Foxglove Way, Dogwood Way and Rancho Del Acacia Way.
