Country Knolls is a small neighborhood of single-family homes in the town of Fallbrook in North County San Diego. This moderately priced community is adjacent to Palomares House & Park, just across the street from Dinwiddie Preserve and minutes away from all that downtown Fallbrook has to offer.
Within a short drive, you can browse art exhibits, spend an afternoon golfing, attend one of Fallbrook’s many annual events, taste local wines, take horseback riding lessons, or meet up for play dates at the local, off-leash dog park.
All of the dining and shopping options you will need on a regular basis are also just minutes away, while the expanded options found in Oceanside and Temecula are easily accessed using nearby Highway 76 and Interstate 15.

This will take you into the downtown area and is where you will find Fallbrook’s three main shopping centers: Mercantile Shopping Center, Colony Plaza Shopping Center and Fallbrook Towne Centre.
Fallbrook is also home to a wide variety of dining options that range from well-known fast food restaurants to locally owned favorites. Examples of eateries you will find here include Firehouse Que & Brew, Fallbrook Rib Shack, Nessy Burgers, Harry’s Sports Bar & Grill, Café de Artistes, Garden Center Café and Grill, Pedro’s Tacos, Robertito’s Mexican Food, Main Street Café, Dominick’s Sandwiches, Rosa’s, Café Bloom and Trupiano’s Italian Bistro. Then, of course, there are the expected spots, like Chipotle, Denny’s, Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Little Caesars Pizza, KFC and Burger King.
As for entertainment, there is always something going on in Fallbrook. Whether it is the weekly farmers market, craft fairs, swap meets, changing exhibits at the Fallbrook Art Center and Brandon Gallery, or one of Fallbrook’s many community events, you will never run out of fun things to do while living or visiting this area. Just a handful of the annual events that take place in Fallbrook include Fallbrook Avocado Festival, Fallbrook Scarecrow Days, Movies in the Park, Holiday in the Village, the Fallbrook Garden Club Flower Show, Fallbrook Christmas Parade, Fallbrook Film Festival, and Wine and a Bite Holiday Art Walk.
When you are in search of expanded dining, shopping or entertainment options, Oceanside and Temecula are easily reached by Highway 76 and Interstate 15.
Country Knolls Parks & Recreation
Like most of North County, Fallbrook is well known as an equestrian community, which means residents and visitors will find plenty of boarding and training stables within a short drive. Plus, the Fallbrook Riders Field is just down the street.
There are also the beaches of Oceanside only about 30 minutes away, several parks within a short drive, and the Fallbrook Airpark for pilots with private planes.
One of the parks dog lovers will surely want to check out is Live Oak Park. This beautiful park offers picnic areas, playgrounds, walking trails and sports fields, and it also has the closest off-leash dog park in the area.
You should also check out the Fallbrook Community Center and Park, which offers park amenities like a playground, picnic tables, sand volleyball courts, a basketball court and tennis courts. What sets this park apart is that it is also home to the community center where you will find art classes, fitness classes, activities and events for youth, teens, adults and seniors.
If you love tennis, there is also the Fallbrook Tennis Club on South Mission Road. This private club offers membership or day passes and has 10 courts, several tennis leagues that play throughout the year, a pro shop and available tennis lessons. This is also where the annual Fallbrook Open Tennis Tournament is held, as well as themed tournaments and monthly social events.
For those who prefer golf, there are dozens of courses and country clubs in the North County San Diego area. Some of the closest to Country Knolls include Golf Club of California, Arrowood Golf Course, Pala Resort and Welk Resort.
Getting in a workout on a tennis court or walking a golf course is certainly a great way to spend time outdoors, but if you prefer hitting the trails over heading to a well-manicured setting, Country Knolls could not be more ideally located. After all, it is right next door to the Fallbrook Land Conservancy headquarters and two of the 11 nature preserves managed by this group.
Palomares House & Park, which offers leisurely strolls in a garden setting, is adjacent to Country Knolls and is a nice place to see a historic home and garden art. But for a more natural setting, you can head just across South Stage Coach Lane to Dinwiddie Preserve, which is 14.5 acres of meadows, oak trees, sycamores and hiking trails and even has a stream running through it. For more hiking trails close to home, Los Jilgueros Preserve is adjacent to South Mission Road west of the neighborhood. Whenever you are planning a hike at one of the local preserves, be sure to check the conservancy’s website to make sure your destination is currently open to the public. Some of the preserves periodically close particular areas or the whole preserve to protect vulnerable habitats.
In total, North County San Diego is home to more than 160 trails and paths for hiking, mountain biking and trail riding, so you will never run out of trails to explore. Avid hikers living in Fallbrook will likely want to start with the trails in the Santa Margarita Trail System, Palomar State Park and Cleveland National Forest.
Country Knolls Schools
Country Knolls and the surrounding Fallbrook neighborhoods are served by public schools in the Fallbrook Union Elementary School District and the Fallbrook Union High School District. Students living here and going to public school attend Live Oak Elementary School, James E. Potter Junior High School and Fallbrook High School. For students who learn better in different environments, there are other options, such as Fallbrook Homeschool Academy and Ivy Continuation High School.
Private school options serving this area include Fallbrook Montessori, Peppertree Montessori, Montessori Adolescent Academy, Rock Rose School for Creative Learning, St. Stephen Lutheran School, Spirit Mountain School, Fallbrook United Methodist School, St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School, A Step in Time Preschool, New Covenant Christian Academy, and Alpha & Omega Academy.

Country Knolls Boundaries
Country Knolls is located just south of Rod Street, east of Armadale Road, north of South Stage Coach Lane, and west of South Stage Coach Lane, Dinwiddie Preserve and Palomares House & Park. Homes here are primarily located on Arbolita Lane, Palomares Road and Palomares Court. The community is accessed from two entrances on Rod Street.
