Tony Ortega Jazz Jam at Mr. Peabody’s Bar & Grill

If you’re a jazz fan, bring in the New Year’s at this local Encinitas sports bar and live music venue. Anthony Ortega is in his late 80s but still continues to display his multi-wind instrument chops for as long as three hours every Sunday night at Mr. Peabody’s. Bring your friends to countdown to midnight with this jazz legend.

Big Head Todd & The Monsters at the Belly Up

Head on over to the Belly Up to enjoy smooth Americana with an edge from jam band veterans, Big Head Todd. Their penchant for not sticking to one genre and constantly evolving their sound over the years has made them a crowd-favorite for 30 years. 21 and up only.

Miss Demeanor at Carvers Steak & Chops

The Oceanside Elks Lodge will host a NYE dinner and dance open to the public starting with cocktails from 6 to 7 pm. Afterwards, a surf & turf dinner will be served followed by dancing from 8:30 pm to 12:30 am.

For fans of local history, delight in an evening full of captivating historical tidbits, music, drinks, and food at the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum. Best of all, you’ll get to partake in a “freeform make & take” session with steampunk costume creator, Gears & Roebuck, Rusty Junk Emporium where you’ll create a work of art with “junk.” Funds will go into reviving one of their steam engines.

Iron Fist Brewery is celebrating Repeal Day and NYE in a single party. For only one night, you’ll get to dress up in your finest your best vintage wear and visit a full fledged speakeasy. From secret passwords to coupe glassware, Iron Fist is adding glitz and glamor in true flapper fashion. Enjoy classic hors d’oeuvres (made by chef and owner of Mish Mash), 1920s jazz by The Firefly Jazz Quartet, specialty beers inspired by traditional cocktails, and a beer fountain.

For dessert, choose between lemongrass and white chocolate panna cota with macerated strawberries or layered chocolate hazelnut budino with raspberry gelee, candied hazelnuts, and cinnamon puffed pastry tuile.

Chef Teri will prepare a varied four-course meal for you. First course includes a baby gem wedge salad including crisp pancetta. Second course features oysters on half shell, char-grilled prime beef tenderloin skewers, or buratta and brown sugar glazed beets. For entrees, choose from 8oz Wagyu Rib Eye, Ciopinno (Italian fisherman’s stew), Sous Vide Jiidori Chicken, or Porcini Mushroom Risotto.
