Hollywood and Vine North County Neighborhood Guide
The Hollywood and Vine neighborhood in the Del Mar Mesa planned community is a tiny enclave of luxury homes located almost completely on a single, gated cul-de-sac. Homes here are on large lots, feature high-end amenities, and are close to hiking trails, shopping, dining, country clubs, employment centers and more.
Hollywood and Vine History
The Del Mar Mesa Specific Plan Area was adopted by the City of San Diego in 1996. Homes in this small neighborhood within Del Mar Mesa were built in the early-2000s.
Prior to development into residential communities, this area was used for agricultural purposes and was once home to the La Jolla and Ipai people.
Hollywood and Vine Housing
Hollywood and Vine is a small, gated community of luxury homes located on Del Vino Court. Most of the homes are located on a gated cul-de-sac, while one home generally considered part of the neighborhood is set apart from the others across Little Mcgonigle Ranch Road with its own security gate.
Most homes here have swimming pools, all have well-manicured landscaping and all have great outdoor entertaining areas.
Hollywood and Vine homes are rarely on the market and most are still owned by the original buyers. Estimated values are in the mid-$2,000,000 range, which is primarily based on comps near the community but not within the gated cul-de-sac that makes up this neighborhood.
Hollywood and Vine Restaurants & Shopping
There are plenty of shopping and dining options within easy reach from Hollywood and Vine, including those that are found throughout North County and in downtown San Diego. While residents and guests here can easily access options in the surrounding areas, there are three shopping centers close to home that you are sure to frequent.
Piazza Carmel is the smallest of the three but is home to lots of everyday essentials, such as a tailor, dry cleaner, banks, salons, postal services, Vons, a pet hospital and a hardware store. There are also several restaurants here, including Spices Thai Café, Nico’s Taco Shop, Royal India, Marketplace Grille and more.
Then you have Del Mar Highlands Town Center on El Camino Real, which is where you will find Ralph’s, Starbucks, FedEx Office, Jamba Juice, Bath & Body Works, Grater Grilled Cheese, Urban Plates and Taverna Blu. Del Mar Highlands Town Center is also home to Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas, which is sure to become a favorite for date night.
The newest of the three is The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch, which offers an upscale experience with shops, restaurants, fitness centers, salons and service providers. This is where you are going to find Trader Joe’s, Rite Aid, Panera Bread, Pure Barre, CRUDO by Pascal Lorange, Dolce at the Highlands and many other enticing offerings that are sure to make this plaza a regular stop.
You will definitely want to come to this area on Thursdays, since the Carmel Valley Certified Farmers Market takes place just across the street on Village Center Loop Road every week from 2:30pm to 7:00pm.
Hollywood and Vine Parks & Recreation
The Del Mar Mesa area is a good choice for active couples, families, professionals and retirees. The Grand Del Mar golf course is just to the west, hiking trails leading into Del Mar Mesa Preserve and Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve are abundant, and equestrian centers are just a short drive away. Hollywood and Vine is also just a short drive from the beach, Del Mar Racetrack and San Diego Polo Club, Black Mountain Open Space Park and Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve.
Some of the closest country clubs and golf courses are Del Mar Country Club, Fairbanks Ranch Country Club, Torrey Pines Golf Course, Valencia Tennis Resort & Spa and The Santaluz Club.
Hollywood and Vine Schools
Hollywood and Vine public school students generally attend Sage Canyon Elementary School in the Del Mar Union School District, followed by Carmel Valley Middle School and Torrey Pines High School in the San Dieguito Union High School District.
North County San Diego private schools nearby include San Diego Jewish Academy, Cal Coast Academy, The Cambridge School, Cathedral Catholic High School, Del Mar Pines School, Notre Dame Academy, Christ the Cornerstone Lutheran School, Santa Fe Christian School, Diegueno Country School and Fusion Academy.
Hollywood and Vine Boundaries
Hollywood and Vine is bordered by Little Mcgonigle Ranch Road to the south and Del Vino Court to the east. Deer Canyon and Highway 56 are to the north and the Fairmont Grand Del Mar is to the west. Homes here mostly have Del Vino Court addresses with the exception of one home that is considered part of Hollywood and Vine but is not located on the gated cul-de-sac with the others.
This neighborhood is part of the larger planned community of Del Mar Mesa, which is generally considered part of the Carmel Valley area.
