1. Decoy Dockside Dining

Decoy is the Lakehouse Hotel & Resort’s highly anticipated new waterfront restaurant. Part of a multi-million-dollar redevelopment for the San Marcos vacation property, Decoy just opened August 29 to rave reviews. A luxe-lodge-inspired restaurant with views of Lake San Marcos, Decoy serves New American cuisine with a focus on wild game and freshwater seafood. Helmed by acclaimed chef Danilo “DJ” Tangalin (formerly of JRDN), the kitchen prepares unique entrees like Lobster Pot Pie, Elk Osso Bucco, and Whole Roasted Lavender Duck. Diners can also enjoy appetizers and light entrees at the Dock Bar located downstairs from the main dining area. The entire property measures more than 8,000 square feet with a vast upstairs dining room and open-deck-eating downstairs.

2. Bob’s Steak & Chop House

Bob’s replaced Bluefire Grill at the Omni La Costa Resort in early June. A high-end steakhouse with locations throughout the country, Bob’s originated in Dallas, Texas in 1993, and is known for its prime filets, famous pickles, and epic sides. If you’re looking for a luxe dining experience, Bob’s delivers. Start with a pomegranate martini and end with the key lime pie. Of course, you’ll probably want to have a prime filet mignon or rib-eye in between.

3. 608

This downtown O’Side spot opened in late spring in the Swami’s Cafe location and already has won over foodies. Featuring small plates and tapas with a truly creative twist, the 608’s well-curated menu offers gems such as Bone Marrow Ceviche, Carrot-Ricotta Tortellini, and Duck Skin Tacos. Curious? The 608 website references that its cuisine combines comfortable staples with bold flavors. Sounds about right. Be sure to get the pistachio cake and really live up the comfort food with a kick vibe.
