Rancho Santa Fe Neighborhood Guide: The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe

The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe is one of the most exclusive, prestigious communities in North County San Diego. Residents who choose this neighborhood for their primary residence or second home are not just looking for a luxury estate to call their own; they are looking for a particular lifestyle in a resort-like setting that offers a private club, world-class golf facilities, an award-winning clubhouse, a day spa, concierge services and unmatched amenities.

While this planned development with more than 250 homes sites surrounded by a golf course is mostly built out, there are still a few vacant lots left for prospective residents hoping to build their dream home in this upscale community.


The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe is part of the larger Rancho Santa Fe community, which was developed on land that was first inhabited by Native Americans, later given to Juan Maria Osuna during the Rancho Era and purchased by the Santa Fe Railroad Company in 1906.


The Bridges offers a variety of detached, single-family home options, including elegant villas, spacious models and custom estates. At the time of this writing, there are 12 luxury villas and estates for sale with listing prices between $1,895,000 and $7,450,000.

The available villas range in size from a three-bedroom, four-bathroom, single-level home listed at $1,895,000 to a four-bedroom, six-bathroom, 3,797-square-foot home on the market for $2,365,000.

The lowest-priced custom home is a six-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom estate on one acre on the market for $3,199,000. The highest-priced home is a five-bedroom, nine-bathroom home on 2.1 acres with golf course views listed at $7,450,000.

For those interested in building their dream home in this exclusive community, there are three home sites available at this time, including:

  • A .98-acre lot with an 18,500-square-foot pad listed at $2,500,000
  • A 2.84-acre lot with a 31,600-square-foot pad on the market for $3,199,000
  • A 1.08-acre lot with a 19,000-square-foot pad listed at $1,850,000

Restaurants, Shopping & Entertainment

The dining options at The Bridges bring new meaning to lunching at the club. As expected, they offer both fine and casual dining, the latter of which includes The Bridges Pizzeria and The Clubhouse Grill. Members can also grab breakfast at the Sports Centre before meeting friends for a yoga class or a day at the spa, or they can get lunch at the Poolside Cafe during a power sunbathing session. For birthday parties or casual events, they can plan a gathering at the Tennis and Rec Centre, and there is the Fine Dining Room for celebrating special occasions.

But where they really stand out from other club dining options is in growing their own organic produce, making their own wine and harvesting their own honey. And, of course, there is a sommelier available to help members determine the best pairings for their meals or to help them grow their personal collections with the most appropriate choices.

Minutes away in The Village of Rancho Santa Fe, residents of The Bridges can enjoy expanded dining options, including Mille Fleurs, Thyme in the Ranch, Morada, Rancho Santa Fe Bistro, Rancho Santa Fe Sandwich Shop, Caffee Positano and Delicias. The Village is also where you will find the Village Market, the local pharmacy, the community library, the post office, offices for local professionals, the school district, boutique shopping and the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. Financial institutions in The Village include Pacific West Bank, One West Bank, Bank of America, Union Bank, California Bank & Trust, Chase Bank and Wells Fargo.

Also in Rancho Santa Fe is the Del Rayo Village Shopping Center, which is where you will find Kitchen Debonaire, Ranch Cycles, Mobil, Dolce Pen E Vino, Le Dimora Home Furniture & Decor, Mobil, GSB Men’s Clothier, and the weekly Rancho Santa Fe Farmers Market, which is the place to be Sundays from 9:30am to 2:00pm.

By the gate house of the nearby Rancho Cielo neighborhood, Cielo Village will soon offer conveniently located shops and restaurants for residents and visitors to enjoy. Designed in the spirit of a Northern Italian village, this quaint shopping center is sure to be a local hotspot once it is filled with unique tenants. Just across Del Dios Highway for here, you will find Paradise Produce Market where locals stop for unique gifts, organic produce, baked goods and pottery.

Some residents may prefer to make the short drive to 4S Commons in 4S Ranch for everyday shopping, but Encinitas shopping centers are more convenient for most folks living at The Bridges. 4S Commons is home to Cost Plus World Market, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Baskin Robbins, Ulta Beauty, Petpeople, Jimbo’s…Naturally!, CVS Pharmacy, Bed Bath & Beyond, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Panera Bread, Great Clips and Ralphs.

West Village Shopping Center, Village Square Shopping Center, Camino Real Shopping Center, Camino Village Plaza, El Camino Promenade and Weigand Plaza Shopping Center are some of the main shopping hubs where residents of The Bridges will find everyday essentials and more within a short drive. The first shopping center you will come to on Encinitas Boulevard as you head into Encinitas is the West Village Shopping Center. Here you will find Meritage Wine Market, Grangetto’s Farm & Garden Supply, Back to Basic Foods, Rite Aid Pharmacy, Champagne French Bakery and more.

As you continue on Encinitas Boulevard and turn on to El Camino Real, you will come to one of the largest shopping areas in Encinitas and you will come across the other shopping hubs mentioned above. In this area, you will find Vons, CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, Sprouts Farmers Market, Trader Joe’s, Dollar Tree, Kohl’s, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, Chipotle Mexican Grill, BevMo!, Starbucks and plenty of other shopping and dining options conveniently close to home.

The expansive golf course surrounding the homes shows just how much life at The Bridges centers around the community’s exclusive club and the luxury of resort-style living. This invitation-only club provides its members with an array of amenities, including the Sports Centre and Tennis & Rec Centre with a fitness center, tennis pro shop, dry saunas, tennis courts, a basketball court, volleyball court, bocce court, paddle tennis court, squash court, multi-sports court, a lap pool, a children’s wading pool, a sun deck, a Jacuzzi, youth sports instruction, sports clinics, children’s day camps, movie nights, yoga classes, Pilates classes and aerobic classes. There is also the 18-hole, par-71 golf course designed by the Robert Trent Jones II Group. Accompanying this beautiful course are practice facilities that include a warm-up tee, a short game practice tee, and a practice tee where golfers can work on their short game or long and short bunker shots. The club employs a team of fitness and golf professionals to help you fit your clubs, perfect your swing and improve your physical fitness with the specific focus of enhancing your game. The right gear can make all the difference, so the club also offers an expansive golf pro shop that made the top of the list of Golf World’s 100 Best Golf Shops in 2009.

There is certainly something for everyone at this club, even members who have no desire to set foot on a tennis court or golf course. The 36,000-square-foot clubhouse is an elegant, award-winning retreat where members can dine, join a game in the men’s or women’s card room, attend a wine tasting, hone their culinary skills at one of the club’s cooking classes, listen to guest speakers, or simply enjoy the views during one of the club’s many activities and events.

Membership at this exclusive club also comes with amenities that are not usually expected in a country club setting, such as access to travel services, private jets, innovative medical facilities and concierge services tailored to meet the needs of the most discerning members.

Other clubs in the area include The Crosby at Rancho Santa Fe, the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club, Morgan Run Club & Resort, the Santaluz Club, the Del Mar Country Club, The Farms Golf Club and the Fairbanks Ranch Country Club.

Equestrian centers within a short drive include Ridgemar Equestrian Center, Blue Fox Farm, Willow Creek Stables, the San Diego Polo Club, Rancho El Camino Equestrian Center and Concord Equestrian Center. Concord is found within the Del Mar Horse Park complex, which is a 65-acre facility with horse trainers, boarding stables, show arenas, training arenas and jumping fields.

If spending time in a natural setting is more your idea of what outdoor recreation should be, you may be more interested in Lake Hodges, the Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve, the Del Dios Highlands Preserve, San Elijo Lagoon and Black Mountain Open Space Park.

At Lake Hodges, visitors can enjoy fishing, boating, picnicking, and hiking and riding trails. At the Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve, you will find 11 miles of hiking and riding trails and amazing views. Del Dios Highlands Preserve is just beyond the Elfin Forest and is part of the San Diego Multiple Species Conservation Program, which means this 774-acre area is the perfect spot to catch a glimpse of wildlife while hiking.

San Elijo Lagoon is a protected wetlands area southwest of The Bridges that offers day camps, self-guided tours, docent-let nature walks, miles of hiking trails and a nature center with educational exhibits. Black Mountain Open Space Park is a 2,352-acre recreational area with hiking and riding trails, as well as amazing views.

The nearest county park is the 125-acre San Dieguito County Park. This park offers playgrounds, picnic areas and other amenities, but its most impressive feature is Miracle Field, which is a baseball field designed to be accessible for players with disabilities.

And, of course, the beaches of Solana Beach, Encinitas and Del Mar are just a short drive from The Bridges.

Most public school students living in The Bridges are served by the Rancho Santa Fe School District and will attend Roger Rowe Elementary and Middle School. A few homes are located within the Encinitas Union School District, and younger students living in these homes attend Olivenhain Pioneer Elementary School.

All public school students living in this community are served by the San Dieguito Union High School, which means that those living outside of the Rancho Santa Fe School District generally attend Diegueno Middle School. These students generally go on to attend La Costa Canyon High School, while those who attended Roger Rowe Elementary and Middle School typically finish their secondary school career at Torrey Pines High School.

There are also many private school options in the area including, Happy Time Nursery School, Village Nursery School, Santa Fe Christian School, Cal Coast Academy, Nativity Catholic School, Horizon Prep School, Francis Parker, Diegueno Country School, The Grauer School, San Diego Jewish Academy, La Jolla Country Day School and Cathedral Catholic High School.


The Bridges is a gated community in northeastern Rancho Santa Fe that is located north of The Covenant, west of Rancho Cielo, south of Escondido Creek and east of the Olivenhain neighborhood in Encinitas.

The San Dieguito Reservoir is southwest of the neighborhood, and Lake Hodges is located to the east.
