Peñasquitos Casablanca North County Neighborhood Guide

Penasquitos Casablanca Aerial

Peñasquitos Casablanca is a Rancho Peñasquitos condo community within the coveted Poway Unified School District in North County San Diego. Housing here is among the most affordable in this area, and residents enjoy a central location within walking distance of the PQ Certified Farmers Market, Rancho Peñasquitos Towne Center, the library, the post office, Rancho Family YMCA and the Rancho Peñasquitos Linear Dog Park.

History

The area that is now known as Rancho Peñasquitos was once inhabited by the Kumeyaay people and later became part of the first Mexican land grant in San Diego County. Captain Francisco Maria Ruiz was the original owner and built an adobe home on the land in 1823. This home is generally considered the oldest residential structure in San Diego. The land changed hands several times and was ultimately purchased by Peñasquitos, Inc. in 1962.

The Peñasquitos Casablanca condo community was developed in the 1980s.
