2. Smashburger Del Mar

Smashburger Del Mar is located on the lower level of the Del Mar Plaza, street side at Coast Hwy and 15th. There’s a patio just outside, but for a stunning view of the Pacific, grab a seat on the plaza patio just up the stairs. There’s always a great crowd, and you’ll be treated to an eclectic array of music on the weekends. It can get a bit chilly on the patio, so make sure to bring a sweater or a jacket. You wouldn’t want to leave before watching the amazing sunset!

3. Wild Note Cafe

Connected to the legendary Belly Up Tavern, you and your pup will swoon over the menu and musically inspired decor. The Wild Note Cafe is a neighborhood bistro style restaurant with a funky vibe. It fits in perfectly on S. Cedros in the heart of the Solana Beach Cedros Design District. The menu is filled with fabulous fare, such as: Lobster Dumplings, and Ancho Chili Honey-Glazed Salmon.

5. Pannikin Coffee & Tea

Driving down Coast Hwy, it’s hard not to notice the Victorian beauty that houses Pannikin Coffee & Tea. Built in 1887, this charming yellow and white building served as the original Santa Fe train station in Encinitas and has long been a gathering place for locals and visitors alike. The interior remains much as it did when travelers came and went back in the day, although now instead of tickets to destinations up or down the coast, visitors purchase specialty coffees, breakfast scrambles, scrumptious salads, and fresh pastries.

Ample seating is available in the patio area, where your pooch is welcome to join you, but you’ve got to be quick if you want to kick back in one of the adirondack chairs on the lawn.

They’ve also got some great salads, if you’re looking to eat light, or if you want something to seriously fill you up, try one of their enormous burgers!

11. Beach Break Cafe

This popular family owned breakfast spot is part cafe, part tribute to the boarding (skate and surf) culture of San Diego. The walls of Beach Break Cafe are lined with vintage images of surfers riding waves throughout the years and skateboards from the earliest days of the sport hanging high.
