The golf community of Sycamore Ranch wraps around the golf course at Golf Club of California in the Fallbrook area of North County San Diego.

While it is not an age-restricted community, newcomers will quickly learn that many of the residents moved here to retire and enjoy their Golden Years in a luxury home steps away from a beautiful golf course. However, there are also plenty of professionals and families here who can conveniently get to employment centers, schools, extracurricular activities and more due to the close proximity of Highway 76.

As is true of most Fallbrook neighborhoods, Sycamore Ranch offers semi-rural living minutes from everyday essentials, dining options, healthcare providers, golf courses and casinos. But if you take a drive through Sycamore Ranch, you are sure to notice that the luxury homes and well-manicured lots set this upscale community apart from others in the area.

Right in Fallbrook, you will find grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, gas stations, healthcare providers, gift shops and a weekly farmers market. You will also find several local eateries, including Café Bloom, Trupiano’s Italian Bistro, Fallbrook Café and Fallbrook Rib Shack. There is also the Fallbrook Brewing Company’s beer-tasting room where you can try local, craft brews and Café de Artistes where you will find a welcoming blend of gourmet treats, local art and a historic soda fountain.

In the way of entertainment, Fallbrook is an ideal choice for art lovers who can browse galleries, ponder public art installations, take classes at Fallbrook School of Arts, see a live performance at Mission Theater or enjoy the Fallbrook Film Festival at the Fallbrook Film Factory.

Nearby Bonsall offers more shops and restaurants and is also home to the nearest movie theater for catching the latest releases and big-name films.

On days when you need a few more options to complete your list of errands, the easy drive to Temecula, Oceanside, San Marcos, Escondido or Vista will greatly expand your choices.

Sycamore Ranch is a golf course community situated around the Golf Club of California’s 18-hole course, which makes this an ideal choice for those who enjoy spending time on the green. Other nearby courses can be found at Pala Mesa Resort, Vista Valley Country Club, Castle Creek Country Club and Arrowood Golf Course. For those looking for more extensive country club amenities, Pala Mesa Resort, Vista Valley Country Club and Castle Creek Country Club are your closest options.

As expected in North County San Diego, there are also several boarding and training stables within an easy drive, and folks with private planes will be happy to know that Fallbrook Airpark is nearby.

Fallbrook’s community parks include Alturas Street Park, Ball Park, Ingold Community Sports Park, Live Oak Park, and Fallbrook Community Center and Park. Families with children involved in youth sports will likely find themselves spending lots of time at Ingold Community Sports Park, while folks looking for easy trails or a beautiful wedding venue are more likely to find what they are looking for at Live Oak Park. The community center offers a range of classes and programming for children, teens, adults and seniors, and it is also home to craft fairs and swap meets throughout the year.

One of the most appealing outdoor recreational features of North County San Diego is the more than 160 walking and jogging paths, and hiking, biking and riding trails that can be found all across the region. In the Fallbrook area, many of the most popular trails are found within one of the nature preserves managed by the Fallbrook Land Conservancy. The preserves under the care of the conservancy include Bonsall Preserve, Dinwiddie Preserve, Engel Family Preserve, Heller’s Bend Preserve, Los Jilgueros Preserve, Rock Mountain Preserve, Appleton Preserve, Palomares House & Park, Durling Preserve, Monserate Mountain Preserve and Margarita Peak Preserve. The conservancy also manages miles of trails in the Santa Margarita River Trail system.

It is important to note that some of the nature preserves allow only limited public access and some close periodically to protect vulnerable habitats. Public school students living in Sycamore Ranch are served by the Bonsall Unified School District and the Fallbrook Union High School District. It is common for students here to attend Bonsall Elementary School, Norman L. Sullivan Middle School and Fallbrook High School.

Nearby private school options include Rock Rose School for Creative Learning, Fallbrook United Methodist School, Montessori Adolescent Academy, A Step in Time Preschool, Peppertree Montessori, St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School and St. Stephen Lutheran School.

For adult learners, options include Palomar College’s Fallbrook Campus, California State University San Marcos and National University.
