The Crosby Estates Rancho Santa Fe

The Crosby Estate at Rancho Santa Fe (aka The Crosby Estates, The Crosby Estate and The Crosby) is an exclusive enclave of luxury homes set in a gated golf community with 24-hour guards. A master homeowners association helps to ensure uniformity and maintain the quality of life in this country club setting, while nearby commercial areas offer shopping, dining, entertainment, financial institutions and professional services within a short drive.

Within the gates, residents can enjoy walking trails, a park surrounding a lake, views and open space.

Residents of this affluent community who choose to become members of The Crosby Club also enjoy a 33,000-square-foot club house, fine and casual dining at the club, an 8,500-square-foot tennis and fitness facility, the private golf course, exercise classes and social activities.

History

The Crosby is named after famed crooner Bing Crosby, who owned one of the original adobe homes in Rancho Santa Fe.

Housing

The Crosby at Rancho Santa Fe is a gated golf community planned to include about 421 homes on a total of 722 acres. There are 70 custom home sites, 281 semi-custom homes and 70 villas, many with views of the golf course. There is a master homeowners association to help maintain uniformity and ensure that residents enjoy an exclusive, country club setting, as well as smaller associations within the community.

Restaurants, Shopping & Entertainment

The Crosby Club offers a 33,000-square-foot clubhouse and an array of dining options for members to enjoy, including a main dining room, a private dining room, a bar, a lounge, the Clubhouse Grille, the Poolside Grille and the Going My Way Grille. The club also offers social events throughout the year, including Breakfast with Santa, an annual wine fair, wine dinners, wine tastings and cooking classes.

Just minutes from The Village of Rancho Santa Fe commercial area, Crosby residents enjoy nearby dining and shopping options, as well as community and professional services. Here is where you will find the public library, post office, Rancho Santa Fe Village Market and Rancho Santa Fe Pharmacy. Restaurants in the Village include Rancho Santa Fe Sandwich Shop, Caffee Positano, Rancho Santa Fe Bistro, Morada, Mille Fleurs, Delicias and Thyme in the Ranch. This is also the home of the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, boutiques, professional offices and several financial institutions, including Chase Bank, Pacific Western Bank, One West Bank, Wells Fargo, California Bank and Trust, Bank of America and Union Bank.

Also in Rancho Santa Fe, there is the smaller Del Rayo Village, which is home to a handful of shops and restaurants, as well as the Rancho Santa Fe Farmers Market, which takes place Sundays from 9:30am to 2:00pm.

The 5,000-square-foot Cielo Village shopping center, which is near the entrance to Rancho Cielo will soon provide additional shops, restaurants and professional offices close to home. Designed to resemble an old-world village square in Northern Italy, this is poised to be a popular shopping center once all of the spaces have been leased. In the meantime, there is the Paradise Produce Market just across Del Dios Highway, which sells local produce, gifts, pottery and baked goods and is certainly worth a stop.

The 4s Commons Town Center is where most Crosby residents will likely go for everyday essentials and regular errands. Just a short drive from the neighborhood, this large shopping center and the area around it are home to Ralphs, Cost Plus World Market, Jimbo’s…Naturally!, Bed Bath & Beyond, Petpeople, Ulta Beauty, Baskin Robbins, Panera Bread, Miguel’s Cocina, Geppetto’s Toys, CVS Pharmacy, Wells Fargo, Bank of America and more.

Options expand even further just past 4S Ranch in Rancho Bernardo and Poway.

Parks & Recreation

If you are looking for a community where you can enjoy outdoor recreation steps from your front door, The Crosby may be the North County neighborhood for you. The members-only, 18-hole golf course that wraps around the community is one of its main draws, but there are also walking trails, a park around a lake, a driving range and approximately 190 acres of open land all within the gates. For those who are club members, the 8,500-square-foot Sports Center offers four tennis courts, a fitness center with strength and cardio equipment, personal trainers, a junior Olympic-size swimming pool, youth camps, and group exercise classes, including yoga, Pilates, spin, gyrokenesis, cardio muscle and core fusion.

Northeast of the neighborhood, you can enjoy fishing, picnicking, boating and hiking at Lake Hodges or the more than 11 miles of hiking and riding trails in the 784-acre Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve. The 774-acre Del Dios Highlands Preserve is just beyond the Elfin Forest off of Del Dios Highway. As part of the County of San Diego Multiple Species Conservation Program, this preserve is often a great place to see raptors and other wildlife while hiking.

The 2,352-acre Black Mountain Open Space Park is southeast of The Crosby and is home to the 1,554-foot Black Mountain, as well as miles of hiking and riding trails.

If your idea of recreation has a little less wildlife and a little more social life, there are several other country clubs and golf courses within a short drive of The Crosby. This includes The Bridges, The Santaluz Club, The Farms Golf Club, The Morgan Run Club & Resort, Del Mar Country Club, Lomas Santa Fe Country Club, Fairbanks Ranch Country Club and the Lomas Santa Fe Executive Golf Course.

Nearby equestrian centers include Rancho Riding Club, San Diego Polo Club, Blue Fox Club, Rancho El Camino Equestrian Center, Ridgemar Equestrian Center and Concord Equestrian Center. Concord is part of the Del Mar Horse Park, which is a 65-acre facility offering boarding, training, four practice arenas, four show arenas, a dressage arena and two jumping arenas.

Also within driving distance are the beaches of Encinitas, Del Mar, Carlsbad and Solana Beach, as well as San Elijo Lagoon, San Diego Zoo Safari Park, Blue Sky Ecological Reserve and the San Dieguito River Park.

Schools

Most public school students living in The Crosby Estate are served by the Solana Beach Elementary School District and the San Dieguito Union High School District. These students generally attend Solana Santa Fe Elementary School, Earl Warren Middle School and Torrey Pines High School.

Some students living in the easternmost part of the neighborhood are served by the Poway Unified School District and generally attend Del Sur Elementary School, Oak Valley Middle School and Del Norte High School.

Some of the many private schools within driving distance that serve this area include Maranatha Christian School, Village Nursery School, Lifetime Monetssori School, Discovery Isle Child Development Center, Horizon Prep, The Grauer School, Encinitas Country Day School, St. John’s Catholic School, Cathedral Catholic High School, Notre Dame Academy, Cal Coast Academy and Diegueno Country School.

Boundaries

The Crosby is west of The Lakes, south of Del Dios Highway and Rancho Cielo, east of The Covenant, and north of Santa Fe Hills and the Black Mountain Ranch area.

The Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve and Lake Hodges are northeast of the neighborhood, and the Black Mountain Open Space Park is to the southeast.
