Composting Workshops

The workshops include demonstration and instruction in building and maintaining a backyard compost pile and worm bin. The workshops are hosted by the Community Garden, in conjunction with the City of Escondido.

Moonlight Beach Clean Up

The Surfrider Foundation San Diego County Chapter and San Diego Coastkeeper coordinate cleanups three times a month. On the second Saturday, we clean up a North County beach (Oceanside to Torrey Pines), on the third Saturday we host a cleanup at Moonlight State Beach in Encinitas and on the fourth Saturday of every month we clean up a beach in South County (La Jolla to Imperial Beach).

North County Women have mobilized, organized and led for many years. Since January 2017 and the attendance of almost 10,000 women at North County Women’s March, a strong wave of grassroots organizing has emerged surrounding women’s issues and rights. Help Kira Fight Brain Cancer Surf Competition & Party

This is a fundraising surf competition and party to help support Kira Stanley and her family in her fight against brain cancer. A junior at La Costa Canyon High School and a surf instructor at Concept Surf Shop in Encinitas, Kira was living the life of a typical high-energy teenager before being diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor on November 9th. The community has rallied to support her and the incredibly high costs of the experimental treatments that are necessary for her rare form of cancer…but we can do more! Come enjoy a day of surfing, music, food, drink, laughing, crying, friendship, love and support for this amazing girl and her family!

Starting 1/21 through 1/28, San Diego Restaurant Week showcases hundreds of local restaurants. With discounted menus, this is the ideal time to try out a new place or return to a favorite! During the San Diego Restaurant week, the participating restaurants off a special menu to choose from, highlighting their favorite items. Most menus will include one appetizer, one entrée, and one dessert per person, all at a discounted rate!
